| The first hotel developed by Centre
Island, the Holiday Inn Ellesmere Port/Cheshire Oaks opened in 1995,
and was an immediate success, providing the Wirral peninsular with
its first internationally branded hotel. In November 2001, however,
a fire in the roof and subsequent water damage forced the hotel
to close. Taking this opportunity to review the positioning of the
property, the design team re-configured the layout of the public
areas to appeal to the key conference and training markets. The
management and design team utilised sophisticated procurement systems
to ensure high quality fitments and fittings were purchased from
around the world, saving money and adding a unique finish to the
hotel. After only four months on site, the contractors handed the
property back. Throughout the duration of the closure the hotel
continued to honour wedding and function commitments in the undamaged
banqueting suite, receiving many compliments, despite difficult
operating circumstances. |
