be the showcase of the Express brand. Developed in 1998 by Premier
Hotels, from a Grade 1 listed warehouse, the product is ideally
positioned within the value hotel sector, and is complemented
by the array of local bars and restaurants, which surround it.
In April 2002, when Premier Hotels entered receivership, Centre
Island acted quickly to secure the property, satisfying the covenant
requirements of the landlords and completing the transaction before
competing operators were able to react. Under Centre Island management
the hotel has developed a further 18 bedrooms and meetings facilities
in previously un-exploited space. Enjoying a strong corporate
mid-week market and thriving weekend leisure business the hotel
consistently achieves 80% occupancy, and provides the benchmark
for the branded value market in the city. |
