The outsourcing of hotel housekeeping
services to external providers has become increasingly common
in recent years. It allows hotel operators to attach a fixed
cost to the cleaning of each room occupied, providing a more
cost effective and easily managed housekeeping function.
There are often, however, quality issues relating to attempted
cost savings by the service provider, such as employing too few
staff to adequately complete the work, a lack of consistency due
to the use of untrained agency staff and lack of accountability
from the contactors. In order to enjoy the benefits of an outsourced
housekeeping function, yet avoid the pitfalls, Centre Island
has formed Centre Island Hotels Services. CIHS employ a core
group of housekeeping staff at each hotel together with an
additional pool of fully trained staff, contracted to work
across the group. Our hotels now enjoy a well-trained and flexible
housekeeping function, combining the financial benefits of an
outsourced provider with the quality assurance and high
standards associated with in-house services. |
